Clinton, B.C.:

Llenllenéy'ten (High Bar First Nation; HBFN) and British Columbia Energy Regulator (BCER) are pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on May 5th, 2026, recognizing the commitment to advancing the shared goal of protecting HBFN’s Aboriginal Rights through a framework of collaboration, respect, and transparency.

 

In this agreement, HBFN and BCER will develop and implement consultation and decision-making processes for Energy Resource Activities that are efficient, provide stability, and honor each other’s governance structures. As one voice, the Parties will develop new agreements and protocols related to the governance and administration arrangements of Energy Resource Activities that maintain the integrity of HBFN’s Aboriginal Rights.

 

To achieve these goals, the Parties will work together in accordance with the principles of stewardship, trust, solutions-based orientation, reconciliation, and cultural safety. This agreement highlights HBFN and BCER’s commitment to co-governance, certainty, and mutual benefits.
