2026/27 Accelerated Secwepemc Language Program

Announcing the 2026/27 Accelerated Secwepemc Language Program

 

R Stselxmems R Secwépemc Institute, a Secwepemc non-profit based on the Adams Lake Reserve, is excited to announce our Accelerated Secwepemc Language Program, launching in September 2026 in partnership with Chief Atahm School.

 

Program Details:

  • Duration: September 2026 to August 2027

  • Format: Intensive, cohort-based program with online courses and select in-person sessions on the Adams Lake Reserve

  • Credential: NVIT-accredited Secwepemc Language Fluency Certificate and Diploma

  •  

Please note: because this is an intensive cohort-based program, there is currently no fully-online option available.

Indigenous Community Support Worker Program - Okanagan College

 

This is a tuition free program for those who meet application criteria. Learn how to support and assist Indigenous individuals and families in this hands-on certificate, covering foundational training required by all community based workers. This program encourages a direct person-to-person and family based approach and includes a practicum for experience in an entry-level position at a community organization.

How to take this course:

  • Primarily online with select in-person learning activities

  • Training Dates: October 19, 2026 – February 26, 2027

  • Work Placement: March 1 – April 23, 2027

  • Grant Writing Fundamentals training

  • Work placement experience

  • Career preparation and employment supports

  • Blended delivery model with online learning and one a month in-person components
